The valuations of NBA teams have soared in recent years with the top three most valued teams holding a combined valuation of $38.6 billion, according to data from Forbes. The league’s 30 teams are now worth over $6 billion on average, the publication further reported. Each of the top three teams have experienced a significant rise in valuation from the last season and are all valued over $10 billion.

At number one are the Golden State Warriors, who are estimated to be valued at about $13.5 billion, according to Forbes. The team has ranked as the most valued in the NBA for the fifth consecutive year in 2026. They have seen a massive 23% rise in their valuation from the previous season, Forbes reported. According to a February 2026 report by CNBC, the Warriors were worth $9.4 billion last year.

Following the Warriors are the 2026 champions, the New York Knicks, who are estimated to be valued at $12.6 billion. They saw a 29% increase in their valuation from last year. CNBC reported that the Knicks were worth $7.5 billion last year. The Knicks are ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers, estimated to be worth $12.5 billion after their valuation rose from $10 billion in under a year, according to Forbes.

The top three also have high revenues of $942 million, $640 million and $626 million respectively, according to Forbes. This takes their combined revenue to $2.2 billion.

While the other teams in the top ten for the NBA are the Brookly Nets who are worth $6.5 billion along with the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat valued at $6.4 billion and $6.1 billion respectively.

The bottom five teams, with the least valuation in the league have also seen their valuation rise significantly from the previous seasons. The Charlotte Hornets are now worth $4.4 billion after seeing a 16% rise since last year. Following them are the Portland trail blazer at $4.3 billion, Detroit Pistons at $4.2 billion and Minnesota Timberwolves with a valuation of $4.18 billion. The least valued team is the New Orleans Pelicans, who are worth $4.1 billion and saw a 15% rise in their valuation.

NBA’s business is also booming

According to data compiled by Forbes, the NBA is also seeing significant growth. The league’s revenue nearly reached $4 billion in the 2025 to 2026 regular season. This includes revenue from non-NBA events hosted at the teams’ arenas. It marks a 12% increase from the last season and the first in their $76 billion, 1-year broadcast deal.

More revenue could be coming the league and the teams’ way as it plans to sell franchises in the Basketball Africa League and even launch an European league.
