Former New England Patriots star Tom Brady will be back in Foxborough this weekend - where he will re-unite with ex-teammate Mike Vrabel.
The day after Rob Gronkowski is set to be inducted into the Patriots' Hall of Fame, Brady will be on the call for his former team's contest against the Green Bay Packers.
But Vrabel didn't quite radiate excitement when faced with the idea of saying hi to Brady in Fox production meetings or at the ceremony.
'I'm required contractually to catch up with him at some point,' Vrabel said, per Doug Kyed. 'I'm sure it'll be a Zoom. I'm sure they won't show up here. I'm sure it will be Zoom.
'So, yep, that's contractually I'll be talking to him. And I'm sure I'll see him at Gronk's induction on Saturday.'
It's not exactly clear why Vrabel had such a frosty response when asked about seeing a teammate who he won three Super Bowls with.
Perhaps, it could be because Brady is the part owner of an AFC team - the Las Vegas Raiders - and the coach isn't interested in sharing deep information.
It could also be because Brady didn't openly support the Patriots before Super Bowl LX last season: 'I don't have a dog in the fight in this one,' Brady said on his podcast in February. 'May the best team win.'
Brady's former teammates didn't buy that for one second.
'That's bullcrap, Tom,' former Patriots star Vince Wilfork said this week on Boston sports radio station WEEI. 'All that political — this ain't political. It ain't political, what it is. Raiders ain't in it. Say what it is, what you see.'
Months later, Brady says he's preparing for an emotional day back where he spent the majority of his NFL career.
'It'll be certainly emotional,' Brady told Fox colleague Colin Cowherd. 'I mean, every inch of that stadium I've been through so many times, from the locker rooms to the meeting rooms, the fields.
'I had just so many memorable plays in that stadium. Big games, you know, championship games and rivalry games, you know, division clinching games. So to be back there and to really understand what that Patriot organization is all about, and to convey that to the fans in a way where I'm not like talking about myself.
'I'm really talking about this awesome program that's been built, and the Patriots just always seem to do things the right way.'
