A former linebacker of the Pittsburgh Steelers has found a new home in the NFL.
The Los Angeles Rams have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker and special teamer Jon Rhattigan, according to multiple reports.
Rhattigan, 27, was just cut by the Chicago Bears last month after signing with the team in May.
He joined the Steelers last season and played in one game for the team before being signed off their practice squad by the Las Vegas Raiders. His contract then expired at the end of the season, making him a free agent.
Rhattigan began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent out of the 2021 NFL Draft and joined the Seattle Seahawks. He was waived coming out of training camp but was re-signed to the practice squad and then quickly elevated to Seattle’s active roster.
The 6-foot, 236-pound Army product played in 14 games as a rookie, with all of his 250 snaps coming on special teams. He recorded 10 tackles and recovered a fumble.
An injury in January 2022 prematurely ended Rhattigan’s rookie season and also cost him most of the 2022 season, limiting him to just five games after being activated from the PUP list on Dec. 10.
Rhattigan then played in all 17 games for the Seahawks in 2023, getting his first playing time on defense, as well as being a special teams regular. He played 301 snaps of special teams, working on all four kickoff and punt phases.
Waived coming out of training camp by the Seahawks in 2024, Rhattigan was claimed by the Carolina Panthers. He appeared in 16 games for Carolina, setting a career high with 370 snaps. He was a five-phase special teamer for the team, also working on the field goal block unit.
Rhattigan was released by the Panthers as part of their final roster cuts ahead of the 2025 season and the Steelers signed him to their practice squad.
