As Sunday's NFC North showdown approaches, the Detroit Lions (4-2) signed former Minnesota Vikings (6-0) defensive lineman Taki Taimani to their practice squad on Tuesday.

Taimani, a 6-foot-1, 309-pound lineman, has appeared in nine NFL games (all with the Vikings) and has registered four tackles. Per Pro Football Focus, Taimani logged 70 defensive snaps in 2024 and carded a 61.2 overall defensive grade that season. In 2025, Taimani tallied just 35 defensive snaps and had an overall defensive grade of 27.4 last season from PFF.

Originally an undrafted free agent by the Vikings in 2024 out of Oregon, Taimani finished with 22 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one quarterback hurry, and one fumble recovery during the 2023 college football season with the Ducks.

In its corresponding move, the Lions released wide receiver Lawrence Keys from their practice squad.

Detroit signed Keys back in June after a stint in the UFL with the Houston Gamblers. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver finished second in the UFL with 1,001 all-purpose yards over the Gamblers' 10-game schedule.

Keys registered 349 receiving yards on 24 receptions including two touchdown catches. The 26-year-old also returned 19 kickoffs for 518 yards and 11 punts for 134 yards and a 12.2 average, which ranked third in the league.

After going undrafted in 2024, Keys signed with the Buffalo Bills. But, he was released prior to the start of the 2024 NFL season.

During his college career at Notre Dame and then Tulane, Keys caught 81 passes for 1,080 yards and nine touchdowns. Keys' most productive collegiate season was 2023 when he hauled in 30 passes for 296 yards and two scores.

Keys was waived by the Lions in August during training camp with an injury settlement before signing back onto the practice squad in late September.
