Gady Beyuku, Scott Wharton and Dion De Neve were in the starting XI to top up their match minutes, with the latter on the scoresheet to secure a remarkable second-half comeback.
It was an uphill task for Paul Butler's men, who found themselves 2-0 down after goals from Rio Parmar and Cold Dexter.
Rovers fought back, though, with Isaac Dunn netting twice inside 17 second-half minutes to level the score.
Harvey Higgins then put Rovers ahead 10 minutes later, with De Neve capping off the win with a fourth and a third goal inside 20 minutes.
There was a notable appearance for Nathan Dlamini, who faced his former club for the first time since leaving the Baggies in the summe and caused issues down the left.
Despite making a bright start, Rovers found themselves behind after 30 minutes when Parmar capitalised on a defensive mix-up to poke home from close range.
West Brom doubled their advantage soon after as Cole Dexter glanced home a pinpoint delivery from Maughan, leaving Rovers with a mountain to climb at the break.
The response after half-time was clear. Just two minutes into the second period, Dunn reduced the deficit from the penalty spot after Higgins was brought down by goalkeeper Louis Brady.
Dunn struck again on the hour mark, finding the bottom corner from the edge of the area to level the contest. Higgins then completed the turnaround with 20 minutes remaining, reacting quickest after a fortunate ricochet to slot into an empty net.
Rovers were not finished there. De Neve added a fourth with a composed finish late on, capping a remarkable fightback.
Butler's side comfortably saw out the closing stages to secure a vital win and climb to 22nd in the Premier League 2 table.
