Former Steelers QB interviews for head coach job

A former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is reportedly interviewing for a head coaching job — here's what fans should know.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson, who played with Pittsburgh in 2024, interviewed with North Carolina State for the college's vacant head coaching position.

"Sources: former Super Bowl champion QB Russell Wilson interviewed today for the head coaching job at North Carolina State, where he played three seasons," Schefter wrote via X.

Wilson may not have any coaching experience, but he does have ties to the NC State Wolfpack, throwing for 8,545 yards and 76 touchdowns during his three seasons with the collegiate football program from 2008 to 2010.

We at Steelers Wire hope Wilson will be hired for the vacant head coaching position, but he faces stiff competition from fellow NC State alumnus and NFL legend Philip Rivers, who has a clear advantage in coaching experience.
