Reports in Spain suggest that Liverpool wants to sign one of Harvey Elliott’s new teammates — although the Reds may have already been pushed back in their efforts to lure him to Anfield.
Elliott is of course on loan at Valencia this season, having made the temporary move to the Spanish side during the summer after a nightmare spell at Aston Villa the previous season.
Things haven’t gone to plan yet for the 23-year-old, who is yet to start a game for his new club, and is yet to make an appearance in a victory, with Valencia second from bottom in La Liga after picking up just six points from its opening nine games.
Elliott has come in for some criticism for his impact since arriving in Spain, which raises more questions over his future given it looks as though it may lie away from Liverpool now. Officials from Anfield are reported to have met with Valencia, with more expected from the England U21 international.
But while Elliott might be struggling to make an impact, it’s claimed that another Valencia player has caught Liverpool’s eye.
According to Valencian outlet Tribuna Deportiva, the Reds made contact this week in regards to winger David Otorbi. Liverpool is claimed to have told Valencia it wants to trigger the 19-year-old’s €30 million ($34M) release clause.
In response, Valencia is said to have activated an extension clause in Otorbi’s contract, which adds another three years to his current deal and raises his release clause to €60 million ($67M).
Liverpool is not the only Premier League club to have been linked with the teenager, with Newcastle also said to be considering a move for him, although it remains to be seen how the contract extension may affect any chase for him.
Otorbi has established himself as a regular in Valencia’s side this season, having come through the club’s academy before making his debut in the Copa del Rey in 2024.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
The teenager has appeared in all but one of the club’s nine games so far this season, with starts coming against Barcelona and Sevilla, while he scored a crucial equalizer to earn his side a 2-2 draw against Racing Santander recently.
With Liverpool said to have met with Valencia officials this week to discuss Elliott’s progress, it could also be that Otorbi may have been discussed, although Valencia’s decision to extend his contract would indicate it is not prepared to let him go without a fight.
