A gutted Xabi Alonso has spoken to the media following Chelsea's agonising 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday evening.
An own goal from Mike Penders and a great strike from Mathys Tel secured Spurs a memorable night at Stamford Bridge, but it will be one the Blues will want to forget in a hurry.
Cole Palmer, in particular, will not look back at this evening with much fondness. The Chelsea attacker was shown two yellow cards in quick succession, meaning Alonso's side finished the game with 10 men.

Below is how Alonso reacted to that, and much more.
What did you make of the game and the Cole Palmer red card?
Well, about the game, for sure we are disappointed with the result, with the performance. Half time we have spoken, I had the feeling that it was going to be about the first goal, the second half it was being tight, some half chances from them, some half chances from us, it was going to be about the key moment and once we have conceded the first goal it has changed everything. Straight away almost when we wanted to have a reaction, the red card and it went the other way and probably we can do better, so it is one to reflect in this big game that it was and it is a good opponent, the performance is one to improve.
Is this maybe a learning moment for Palmer because he was maybe lucky not to be sent off for the Matheus Fernandes incident?
Yeah, absolutely, I haven't seen them on TV but as far as I have been told that probably he got it right, so for sure for Cole but for everyone. We think [up until] now we haven't received any red card and we need to continue that way because we need to have this maturity to deal with difficult moments, when you have conceded 1-0, still probably was 15-20 minutes to go, so we have to be on the way. I need to check the action to talk with Cole but it is one to learn for the future for sure.
Do you have any wider concerns around Palmer and his character, just because last week at Everton it seemed Jordan Henderson had a chat with him at the end of the game when he might have got a late yellow card?
Today, for sure, yes, but it is not a concern, I think that Cole when he is focused on the game, when he is enjoying and today after the 1-0, it is a moment to keep calm, a moment to keep mature and for everyone.
How bad is Joao Pedro's injury?
We don't know yet because he has a lot of fluid, so he felt it yesterday and we need to wait probably till tomorrow to do the test and to know the whole situation and the whole seriousness of the injury and we will know soon enough.
A lot of people knew he was out of the game before the match because of the Fantasy Premier League and a lot of families of Chelsea players had taken him out of the team, does that bother you?
No I am not into the fantasy team thing so I didn't know that.
Yesterday you spoke a lot about emotional control, that's the phrase you used, especially considering how Palmer got that first yellow, is that something you still feel needs a lot of work?
Yes we need to work and we need to improve on that. I think we spoke yesterday about those things and to know that in those situations that one first yellow card can be decisive as we have seen, it is a process of the maturity of the team and of the individual players as well.
How do you pick up a young goalkeeper like Mike Penders after a mistake like that?
We win, we lose together and it is part of the job to deal with and to overcome from mistakes, myself as well and everyone, so we support Mike and we support the rest of the team. He will learn from that and he will want to prove that he can do better and we have to show that we can do better.
