Inverness Caledonian Thistle can match anyone at the top of the Championship as they prepare for Saturday’s game against Raith Rovers in Kirkcaldy

HEAD coach Scott Kellacher believes Inverness Caledonian Thistle are not far away from the quality of teams at the top of the Championship this season.

Inverness have moved into the promotion play-off zone as they rose to fourth place after their 2-0 win against Arbroath last weekend.

They are now seven points behind league leaders Stenhousemuir, six points behind Partick in second and five points behind Raith Rovers who are in third.

Inverness head to Kirkcaldy to face Raith Rovers on Saturday as they look to close the gap on third place.

The last time the two teams met, Raith Rovers defeated Inverness 2-0 at the Sarens PSG Stadium.

But Kellacher believes that they have shown in their matches against Raith, as well as Partick and Stenhousemuir, that Inverness have more than enough to match them in games.

Asked if he thought Raith were the best team Inverness have played this season in the Championship, Kellacher said: “I think we've played a few decent teams this year if I'm being really honest with you.

“I'm not sure I'd pick one out of them all because we have played Dunfermline, Partick and Raith and I think there has not been much between them.”

Speaking about their last game against Raith, he said: “I didn't think there was much between us out there if I'm being really honest with you.

“I think we could have probably played a little bit better, but the first goal we lose was a soft, poor goal.

“It comes off Noa Boutin at the back post and the boy goes in and just finishes and then obviously they score late on with the header as well.

“I don't think we were poor that day, but I didn't think we were brilliant as well.

“I think we just need to start well and I think you can see over the last wee while. We really need to give ourselves have a little bit more belief in ourselves.

“I think we're a good side and I back us against anybody.

“There's no question of it but that comes down to hard work. If we work as hard as we can the rest will take care of itself.”

Kellacher says they do have some injury concerns who are doubtful to start Saturday’s match.

Captain Danny Devine was taken off injured in the 2-0 win over Arbroath last weekend. The head coach says nobody is currently ruled out of Saturday’s match as they will look at their fitness before match day.

He said: “We've probably two or three injuries at the minute but they're being assessed every day

“We'll see how they get on and we'll give them every chance before Saturday.”
