As Rovers gear up to play Cheltenham at Prenton Park tomorrow (October 31), Clarke reflected positively on his team securing 16 points across 13 fixtures.
Asked what had most impressed him about Rovers' development this season, he said: "Let's not beat around the bush. We got 15 points from 27 league games last year.
"Yes, there's been frustration and disappointment at moments, but if anybody can't see improvement on that so far, you're not seeing the things that we're trying to do.
"Some of the football we've played this season, I think it's been very good on the eye. We just haven't had clinical moments."
Clarke nevertheless insisted the turnaround remains a work in progress, warning it would take considerably longer than a handful of matches to reshape the side.
He added: "We're going to keep working. It's not going to be fixed this Saturday, next Saturday, the Saturday after, the Saturday after that.
"There's loads of work we've got to do with this group and trying to evolve the football club. There's been a lot of changes.
"There still needs to be a lot of changes in the playing squad moving forward as well, and we just keep moving forward and try and do it in a positive manner."
One area the Rovers boss wants to see improvement is in the final third, with Clarke believing his side have failed to make enough of promising positions.
Reflecting on the recent Crawley game, he said: "I feel that the final moments were nowhere near good enough.
"We got a lot of control in the game, a lot of territory, but we didn't do enough with the final ball, final set piece, final movement.
"If we'd have performed to the levels we're capable of in that final third, we'd win the Crawley game."
That frustration extends to Rovers' home return this season, with Clarke saying he was "disappointed" with nine points from six home matches and believed their performances deserved more victories.
"We've seen how competitive the division is," he said. "Yes, we're disappointed the points tally is not as high as we'd have liked on some of the performances, but we don't cry about that, we just keep moving forward."
Clarke believes improving Rovers' composure in attacking areas will be key to turning more of those performances into victories.
He said: "There's loads and loads of detail, loads of video that we're working on to try and improve those moments of when we're getting into good areas and taking those opportunities.
"It's giving them the confidence to go and produce those moments and sometimes just to show a bit of calmness, a bit of composure in those areas."
Despite acknowledging the work still ahead, Clarke's verdict on life so far at Prenton Park was characteristically direct.
Asked if he was enjoying himself, he replied: "Loving it."
