Manchester United to face Juventus competition for potential Michael Carrick replacement

Manchester United could face a significant obstacle in their pursuit of a new manager, with Juventus potentially ready to rival them for a leading candidate if Michael Carrick is dismissed.

Carrick is coming under increasing scrutiny following a difficult start to the Premier League campaign, with United managing just one win from their opening seven league matches.

The disappointing run has left the Red Devils sitting 13th in the table and raised questions over whether the former midfielder can turn things around.

According to talkSPORT, Antonio Conte could emerge as a target for both Manchester United and Juventus, potentially setting up a battle between the two clubs for his services.

Juventus Could Complicate Manchester United’s Managerial Plans

Conte has a strong connection with Juventus, having represented the Italian giants as a player before managing them between 2011 and 2014.

During his time in Turin, he led the club to three consecutive Serie A titles and established himself as one of Europe’s most respected managers.

Juventus could now consider bringing him back following their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Lazio, with questions surrounding their own direction potentially opening the door to a reunion.

For United, the prospect of losing out on an experienced manager would be another complication as they assess their options.

Conte has also enjoyed success in England, winning the Premier League with Chelsea in 2017 before later taking charge of Tottenham. His record of delivering silverware could make him an attractive option for United if they decide Carrick’s position has become untenable.

Conte Open to a Return to England

Despite the potential interest from Juventus, Conte is reportedly open to returning to English football.

His family circumstances have changed since his previous spell in the Premier League, potentially making another move to England more appealing.

The Italian has also built a reputation for taking on demanding projects and quickly improving teams, qualities that could appeal to United as they look for a way out of their current difficulties.

However, Conte is not the only name being considered. Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler has also emerged as a potential candidate should United decide to make a change in the dugout.

For now, Carrick remains under pressure to deliver better results, and any decision over his future could have major implications for the club’s next managerial appointment.

With Conte potentially attracting interest from both sides of Europe, United may need to act decisively if they decide he is the right man to lead their next chapter.
