We're closing in on five months until the start of the 2027 Masters, and another amateur locked up his spot Sunday in the field at Augusta National, and he will be back for a second time.
Fifa Laopakdee captured his second straight Asia-Pacific Amateur title Sunday, joining Hideki Matsuyama as the only players to win back-to-back AAC titles. One of the perks of winning is an invite to the Masters, as well as the Open Championship, to be at St. Andrews in 2027.
Laopakdee is one of six amateurs who have punched their tickets to the 91st Masters Tournament, and one spot remains up for grabs to the winner of the 2027 Latin America Amateur, set for Jan. 14-17 at Mayakoba's El Camaleon in Mexico.
No tournament celebrates amateurs like the Masters, so for Laopakdee and the others fortunate enough to earn tee times, it's bound to be one of the best weeks of their life and hopefully the first of many times to drive down Magnolia Lane.
Here's a look at the six amateurs who have will compete in the 2027 Masters and how they earned their spots:
Stout, the No. 1 amateur in the world, won the 2026 NCAA Men's Golf individual championship in June to punch his ticket to the Masters. He's the latest Cowboy amateur to tee it up at Augusta National.
Grehan, the mid-am, won the British Amateur at Royal Liverpool in June to earn his spot. Then he went on and starred for GB&I in the Walker Cup.
Whaley was a relative unknown until he went on a run to win the 126th U.S. Amateur at Merion outside of Philadelphia to earn his spot at the Masters.
Leng Jr. finished runner-up at the U.S. Amateur to earn his spot. That came on the heels of his Western Amateur victory and then appearance on the U.S. Walker Cup team.
Bailey won the U.S. Mid-Amateur at Sand Valley in Wisconsin to punch his ticket to Augusta National for the first time.
Laopakdee won the 2026 Asia-Pacific Amateur at Te Arai Links in New Zealand, becoming the second player (Hideki Matsuyama) to defend his title at the AAC.
One more spot is available for the winner of the LAAC this January.
