But the acid test approaches.
After 3 home games, on the bounce, produced 3 wins and a maximum of 9 points, a trip to take on Peterborough United, at the Weston Homes Stadium, was just the test we needed.
It is the kind of fixture that, in the past, would have proven to be a banana-skin, a reality check.
But with confidence at a high, any fears were misplaced with Jack Wilshere’s side making it 4 wins on the bounce against injury hit opponents.
With Jordan Clark scoring an early goal, inside 2 minutes, the Hatters got the perfect boost, and with the lead doubled, courtesy of an own-goal, very early in the second half, the Hatters travelling army had every reason to be jubilant.
Taking 12 points out of the last possible 12 available, has lifted Luton Town into 4th place in the EFL League One table and served intent that the dream of a return to the EFL Championship is, once again, back on the cards.
Perhaps the bookmakers knew something we didn’t when we were announced as promotion favourites before the season started back in August.
But while all the above may seem positive, I’m old enough and wise enough, well perhaps not the latter, to accept there is still a long way to go and some extremely difficult games ahead, starting this coming Tuesday evening.
On Tuesday, the Hatters make the long trip north, on the M1, to take on Huddersfield Town.
The Yorkshire based side, currently, occupy top place in the EFL League One table, 5 points ahead of the Hatters, and have lost just the 1 league game this season.
Yesterday, they travelled to Bradford City and took all 3 points with a decent 3-0 win.
Luton Town face a stiff test on Tuesday evening and, personally, I would be happy with a draw, a win would be fantastic, but this morning let’s just bask in the fact we have won 4 games in a row – WWWW – it looks pretty impressive does it not!
