‘It Really Might Be Over,’ ‘Father Time Undefeated’ — NBA Fans Sound Alarm As LeBron James Botches Alley-Oop Finish Off Flashy Feed From Jaylen Brown

'It Really Might Be Over,' 'Father Time Undefeated' -- NBA Fans Sound Alarm As LeBron James Botches Alley-Oop Finish Off Flashy Feed From Jaylen Brown

LeBron James has spent over two decades turning difficult alley-oop finishes into routine highlights. But a missed connection with Jaylen Brown during the Philadelphia 76ers’ win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday gave NBA fans a reason to question whether ‘Father Time’ is finally catching up with the 41-year-old superstar.

LeBron James’ Missed Alley-Oop From Jaylen Brown Has NBA Fans Talking

The play happened with just around nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. James intercepted the ball near half court and led a fast break that gave Philadelphia a significant numbers advantage.

With Brown alongside him, the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar had a chance to produce another highlight. Brown delivered a flashy lob toward the rim, setting James up for an easy finish.

However, the veteran forward could not hold on to the ball while jumping. It slipped between his hands, and the expected dunk never came.

For a player who built his reputation on spectacular finishes in transition, the miss was an unusual sight. Earlier in his career, James regularly caught alley-oops in traffic and finished them with powerful dunks, using his speed and leaping ability to make difficult plays look routine.

Fans quickly reacted to the latest clip, with some wondering whether the missed finish was another sign of his declining athleticism.

“He thought that was heat bron,” one user wrote.

Another was less forgiving, posting: “It’s over bruh.”

A third hoops observer added: “Father time undefeated.”

Even a fan who clearly remains loyal to James joined the criticism, writing: “This is my king and lord and savior… but he’s washed.”

Another reaction summed up the concern: “It really might be over Bron…”

However, one missed finish does not tell the whole story of James’ athleticism at this stage of his career. The 4-time MVP still has enough athleticism to finish above the rim, although plays that once looked effortless are becoming less consistent.

James also went viral during the contest for a completely different reason. While chasing the ball into the courtside seats, he took a sip from a fan’s drink before returning to the game.

The 76ers still secured a comfortable 126-107 victory over Chicago, with James recording 15 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds, while Brown contributed 25 points and 11 rebounds. Now playing his 24th NBA season, James is averaging 16.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.3 assists through his first six regular-season appearances.

His numbers show that he remains an important contributor, even as moments like the missed alley-oop remind fans that he is no longer the explosive athlete who dominated the league in his younger years.
