Paris Saint-Germain are open to signing a goalkeeper in January, as per a report from Le Parisien. Matvey Safonov remains the No.1, but PSG are attentive to potential market opportunities.
Safonov has been Les Parisiens’ No.1 since midway through last season. He replaced Lucas Chevalier, who in turn had replaced Gianluigi Donnarumma the previous summer. The former Lille OSC goalkeeper struggled to live up to expectations during his opening months at the Parc des Princes, however.
PSG are clearly still looking at the market, as their pursuit of Zion Suzuki over the summer showed. The Japan international ultimately ended up joining Aston Villa.
But as they were in the summer, PSG will be very attentive to any potential opportunities that may arise in this position during the January transfer window.
Safonov, despite progressing on the ball, still has his defaults, notably difficulties defending his near post, as was once again evident against Barcelona in midweek.
