Buyers, sellers or somewhere in between? Teams around the NFL are running out of time to decide.

The 2026 NFL trade deadline approaches as Week 9 rolls along. Already, several teams have made bold declarations on where they stand for the remainder of the season.

The Indianapolis Colts are clear sellers after moving Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner at the end of October. Their midseason tear-down in the wake of firing general manager Chris Ballard has created increased interest about star running back Jonathan Taylor's status. Is he available on the trade market? What would it cost to acquire him?

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears are among notable buyers. Trading two first-round picks for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons was a clear indicator of that – and so far, so good.

Here's everything to know about the upcoming trade deadline, including its date and time, as well as a list of completed trades and potential targets on the market:

When is the 2026 NFL trade deadline?

For the third straight year, the NFL trade deadline comes after Week 9 of the NFL season.

Prior to 2012, the NFL trade deadline took place after Week 6. A rule change 13 years ago pushed that date back two weeks to the Tuesday after Week 8. In 2024, NFL teams voted to push the deadline back one more week – to the Tuesday after Week 9.
