Nicolò Tresoldi is making quite an impression, and Jürgen Klopp is clearly paying attention.

However, Germany has a little more motivation than simply monitoring another promising young striker—it needs to convince him to choose Die Mannschaft.

The Club Brugge forward continues to build his reputation, producing another spectacular goal in the club’s away victory over PSV Eindhoven. His performances have not gone unnoticed by Klopp, who confirmed that Germany is already in regular communication with the 21-year-old.

And here is where things get particularly interesting: Tresoldi is eligible to represent three different countries at the senior international level—Germany, Italy, and Argentina.

Born in Cagliari, Italy, to an Italian father and an Argentine mother, Tresoldi moved to Germany as a teenager and developed through Hannover’s youth system. He has represented Germanyat the U-19 and U-21 levels, but has yet to commit his senior international future to any country.

Italy and Argentina are both potential destinations, meaning Germany cannot simply assume that his impressive performances in its youth setup guarantee a future with the senior national team.

When asked about Tresoldi, Klopp made it clear that the situation is being monitored closely.

“With Nico Tresoldi, it’s pretty much exactly the same. He scored an incredible goal again last night, and they won again in an away game in Eindhoven. Of course, we saw that as well. We’re also in contact with Nico. All these things are on the table, everything has been discussed, and the situation is exactly as it should be at the moment. We’re in good communication, and there’s nothing more to add for now,” said Klopp (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Klopp is understandably not rushing anything, but the message is clear: Germany wants him, and it is making sure he knows that.

With Germany searching for long-term solutions at center-forward, Tresoldi could become an extremely valuable option. But if Klopp and the DFB want to secure his services, they will need to make their case.

Germany has a talented young striker on its radar. The only question is whether he ultimately chooses to wear the Germanshirt.
