Dallas Cowboys won the game on Monday night and trolled an injury-depleted Eagles team that was without quarterback Jalen Hurts and receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks.
The Cowboys entered the visiting locker room with Meek Mill’s ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ blasting over the speakers, a song closely associated with the Eagles for their postgame locker room celebration.
The gesture was meant to celebrate a big divisional win, but some fans thought Dallas was getting a little too carried away.
After defeating the Eagles 38-21 on Monday Night Football, the Cowboys blasted Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” inside the visitor’s locker room at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Philadelphia rapper’s track became closely associated with the Eagles during their Super Bowl LII championship run, making the song an obvious choice for a celebration aimed at their NFC East rivals.
Dallas had plenty to celebrate on the field, too. Javonte Williams rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown as the Cowboys totaled 204 rushing yards, while Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes.
The victory snapped a two-game losing streak and moved Dallas to 3-4, although the Eagles were dealing with significant injuries.
This context became a major part of the backlash on X.
One fan questioned whether the Cowboys were treating the win like a championship, writing, “This was your Super Bowl. Congrats on beating a s***** Eagles backup team.”
Others were less impressed by the song choice itself, suggesting the celebration was hardly original.
One user sarcastically remarked, “Crazy… no ones ever done that before.”
Another shared that sentiment, writing, “Every team does this s*** when they beat the Birds.”
The criticism then turned toward Dallas’ performance and what the result meant for the rest of its season.
Despite the 17-point margin, one fan argued the Cowboys should have done even more against Philadelphia’s depleted lineup. “Lmao, they are so cute. Cowboys are going nowhere. Dak is a** should have SMOKED this Eagles squad,” the user wrote.
For some Eagles fans, the celebration also revived the familiar rivalry debate over Dallas’ championship history.
One particularly hostile reaction took aim at the franchise’s long wait for another Super Bowl appearance, saying, “Closest Super Bowl they’ll ever get. F*** you, clowns. Ring-less Texas team.”
Another fan summed up the perceived overreaction with a sarcastic, “Man what a flex……..”
Even after the convincing victory, Dallas remained below .500, prompting one user to write, “Too improve to 3-4! F****** losers.”
The Cowboys, which sit third on PFN NFL Offense Impact%20assigns,red%20zone%20and%20third%20downs.) ranking with a grade of 86.1, will have an opportunity to build on the win when they host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8.
However, for the time being, their locker room celebration has given fans another reason to keep the rivalry going, even after the final whistle.
