Seahawks make big trade for 8-time Pro Bowl guard

When the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks square off later this year, it could be a little bit tougher for the Rams to generate pressure on the interior. And not just because Poona Ford is out for the year.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks agreed to a trade with the Colts that will send eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle. The Seahawks are giving up a 2027 third-round pick and 2028 fifth-rounder in the deal, according to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer.

Nelson has been one of the best guards in the NFL since the moment he stepped foot in the league, earning three first-team All-Pro selections and three second-team nods. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons, only missing out last year because of injury.

The Seahawks felt they needed to upgrade their offensive line after struggling a bit on the interior in the first seven weeks. They're 4-3 but have allowed 16 sacks and rank 23rd in yards per rush attempt this season.

The Rams and Seahawks don't meet for the first time until Christmas Night, and they'll then play a rematch two weeks later in a Week 18 finale. Neither team has lived up to expectations so far this year but those games should still be meaningful come December and January.
