Nicolas Raskin has been one of the better players for Rangers this season and has done well despite all the exit talk in the summer.

It looked like the Belgium international was set to leave the club a few months ago, and Derek McInnes even left him out of matchday squads.

However, that did not happen, and he’s gone on to be extremely professional and among the first names on the team sheet for McInnes.

Nicolas Raskin shares Instagram story after being called up to the Belgium squad

Raskin took to Instagram to convey his delight at being called up to yet another Belgian side during the international break. He shared three hearts on his story, marking yet another positive achievement in his career.

The 25-year-old had not made his international debut until he moved to Ibrox, and since joining Rangers, he has taken his game from strength to strength. He showcased his quality in the World Cup as well and was also fancied over Kevin De Bruyne in one game.

Raskin has already played 22 games for his country and has found the back of the net on two occasions. He will be hoping to add to that tally sooner rather than later and cement a spot in their strongest eleven ahead of Euro 2026.

Will Raskin be parting ways with Rangers in January?

Raskin had Premier League interest in the summer, and his stock will have only risen following his performances for club and country this summer. Clubs looking to bolster their ranks in midfield, especially in Europe’s top five leagues, are likely to take a look at him as one of their options.

Whether or not an exit is on the cards is uncertain, because as things stand, no club is in talks with the midfielder over a move. They know that agreeing personal terms with him is one thing and dealing with Rangers, another.

Even last January, there were players on the chopping block, but the owners did not want to reduce the first-team options mid-season and are not likely to change their stance this time either. That means Raskin is not actively going to be shipped out and only if a bid that’s too good to turn down arrives will the Light Blues sanction an exit.

As for potential replacements, Lewis Ferguson is someone who could be considered. The Scotland international worked with McInnes and Aberdeen and has been flirting with a move to Ibrox for several months.

There are also likely to be other alternative targets that the board will consider in due course.
