The New York Giants signed former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Jake Haener to their practice squad on November 7, just days before the 2026 NFL trade deadline.
Haener entered the league as a fourth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in the 2023 NFL Draft and played in the Crescent City for three seasons before briefly joining the Chiefs earlier this year.
After Kansas City parted with Haener on May 4, the veteran signal-caller attended several workouts before signing with the Giants in August. He was waived by New York on November 5 before his reunification with the Giants on Saturday.
NFL insider Aaron Wilson was the first to report news of Haener's latest signing with New York in a post to his official Twitter account:
A former Washington Husky and Fresno State Bulldog, Haener won All-Mountain West honors in 2021 and 2022, passing for 9,120 yards and 68 touchdowns in his collegiate career.
