Everton take on Newcastle United in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Sunset ahead of hopes for a bright new dawn

Good evening from Hill Dickinson Stadium

Good evening everyone from Hill DIckinson Stadium and it's a potentially season-defining cup clash by the banks of the Mersey for Everton as they welcome Newcastle United.

Huge credit to Fleetwood Town who enjoyed arguably the greatest night in their history this week, having succeeded where the Blues failed on Saturday, by defeating Premier League champions Arsenal.

However, were David Moyes' men to overcome the Magpies tonight, then only a fourth tier opponent would stand between them and a first semi-final appearance in this competition for 11 years.

Victory would be a huge morale-boost but then of course defeat, and elimination, would represented a huge, wasted opportunity.
