Numbers adding up for one of Swansea's 'big souls'
Lawrence Vigouroux warms up before Swansea's recent win at Millwall

Lawrence Vigouroux has the highest save percentage in the Championship this season as part of a Swansea City side with the best defensive record in the division.

Not only that, Vitor Matos says, but the Chile international is "one of the big souls" of his Swansea team away from the pitch.

"I think I had already a lot of praise to him and as much as I can say, I can always give more," the Swansea head coach added.

"He's been so consistent, he's been so important for us."

Vigouroux had never played a Championship match when he joined Swansea from Burnley in 2024.

He has since missed only one of the Swans' 103 second-tier games – and has barely put a foot wrong along the way.

Not for the first time, the numbers make pretty good reading for Vigouroux as Championship leaders Swansea prepare for a trip to Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

He has a save percentage of more than 76% and has conceded only eight goals in 11 league matches this season.

Known for his confidence in possession – which was a factor behind his move to Swansea - Vigouroux has proved his shot-stopping prowess time and again while establishing himself as one of the second tier's top keepers.

The 32-year-old's contribution has been all the more impressive given that before joining Swansea, he had only played in the English lower divisions – for Swindon Town and Leyton Orient – as well as having a brief spell in Chile.

"He earned his career," Matos said.

"I think he had a really good career coming up and moving up the leagues with consistency, making step by step improvements.

"I hope he will have many more years with success with us."
