Milwaukee Brewers' dominant bullpen and clutch offense put the Tampa Bay Rays on the brink

Milwaukee sends Robert Gasser to the mound against former Brewer Freddy Peralta in a pivotal matchup

Weekends in fall are typically dominated by football. College Football owns Saturday, and Sunday is taken over by the NFL. That's not a complaint, but it does overshadow a bit of the other stuff happening, like the beginning of the hockey and basketball season. And, more importantly, the World Series. Tonight brings us Game 3 of the World Series between the Brewers and Rays.

The Milwaukee Brewers are going to win the World Series. I really don't think there is any way to look at this series other than with that view. Their bullpen has been ridiculously good, and their offense has gotten key hits at every turn. Whenever they do give up runs, the team almost immediately responds. I genuinely believe that the Brewers could've lost to the Padres, but this team never says die. Whenever another team does get the best of them, they don't step on their throat. Milwaukee just keeps themselves alive at every turn.

Tonight, they look to get one step closer to their first-ever World Series trophy. The team is sending out Robert Gasser to the mound in hopes of delivering them a good start. Gasser went 5-5 in the regular season with a 3.87 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. In the postseason, he has allowed just one earned run on six hits and two walks over nine innings. Gasser has only faced Liam Hicks from the Rays, and he has held Hicks to no hits in the two at-bats.

The Tampa Bay Rays have to win tonight's game. There is no chance in my mind for them to win the World Series if they go down 3-0. I already said I think this series is over anyway. It isn't that Tampa is playing all that poorly; it is just that the Brewers are playing that much better. The Rays took advantage of the mistakes from Milwaukee in the first inning of Game 2, but Milwaukee kept chipping away at the lead. The Brewers scored two runs in the bottom of the first and then just kept scoring a run at a time over the course of the game, eventually winning 5-4.

Tampa's bullpen was fine-ish in the game, but Drew Rasmussen wasn't good enough. Tonight, the Rays turn to a former Brewer, Freddy Peralta. I've brought this up a ton, but the most impressive thing about Milwaukee over the years is how they improve by removing their best player. Peralta was a mainstay in their rotation for years, but they shipped him to New York over the offseason. He didn't have a great year and was traded to the Rays. He has been awesome in the playoffs for them. He has pitched 16.2 innings in the playoffs and allowed just two earned runs.

Peralta will need to be elite today if the Rays want to get a win. However, the Brewers rocked Peralta in the lone start he made against them this season. He was with the Mets, and it was in Milwaukee, so perhaps there were some emotions. He went 5.1 innings, allowed seven earned runs on eight hits, and struck out six hitters. I like both teams in this one, but I'm not fading the Brewers at this point. Milwaukee has been amazing this postseason, and their bullpen has been unhittable. Give me the Brewers at -101.
