Cameron Carter-Vickers came under fire for his performance against Falkirk and the overwhelming sense is that Celtic need new centre-backs.

Carter-Vickers was the worst player on the pitch for Celtic and was at fault for the first goal in the 2-0 defeat against Falkirk.

Chris Sutton also called out the USMNT defender and it came days after his comments about the Hoops’ tactics.

Fans on TalkingPoints also believe that he either needs to be sold in January, or made a backup. An upgrade is required, so here are three options that the Bhoys could turn to in the winter window.

He’s done. Should be nothing more than back up. 2 first choice centre backs required if we want to move our team forward. Him, scales and trusty should be no more than back ups, and send Murray on loan until one of them leaves.

The teenage centre-back is yet to make an appearance this season given that the two clubs have a strong relationship due to the Julian Araujo and Ryan Christie deals, as well as Ben Gannon-Doak being there, they have a good chance of landing him.

Despite his lack of football, the Serbian has still had plenty of experience and it would fix the problem in the short term at least.

Jamie Lawrence – WSG Tirol

Jamie Lawrence has been linked to Celtic before and on paper, he ticks all of the boxes.

Standing at 6’7″ tall, his height creates a problem for opposition sides on both ends of the pitch but don’t be deceived by that, as his technical skills are just as impressive.

In the 2025/26 campaign, the 23-year-old completed 88 per cent of his short passes and was named in the Austrian Bundesliga team of the year.

As a 23-year-old he is young but has also had enough experience at a senior level to make an immediate impact.

Luis Binks – Brondby

The final suggestion on the list is current Brondby captain Luis Binks.

Now 25, he has had quite a lot of experience across the globe, playing in the US, Italy, England, and now Denmark.

He is a physical presence at the back as a 6’3″ defender and is very comfortable on the ball defensively. One caveat to that is that he is left-footed, so he either moves to the left and Auston Trusty partners him, or he plays in a more uncomfortable role.

What have you made of Cameron Carter-Vickers' performances since returning from long-term injury for Celtic?

Binks deals well in possession too, averaging an 88.4 per cent passing accuracy and 45.1 per cent accuracy on long balls, alongside 31 recorded line-breaking passes in the Danish Superliga this season.

Leadership isn’t a problem too. Having been given the armband shortly after joining Brondby, he is the sort of character the Hoops are lacking.
