The Seattle Seahawks' decision to trade for wide receiver and return specialist Rashid Shaheed last season has paid off in several ways, even with his slow start to the 2026 season raising eyebrows.
CBS Sports gave the Seahawks a “B+” in their grading of the 10 biggest deals of the 2025 season. Seattle traded two Day 3 draft picks to bring Shaheed aboard, hoping to strengthen its offense and special teams for the remainder of the season.
The Seahawks had a clear need for another wide receiver when the trade was made. Shaheed provided an immediate option, although his receiving production changed significantly following the move. Through the first nine games of that season, he recorded 44 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns. In his final nine games after being traded to Seattle, he registered 15 catches for 188 yards and no touchdowns. However, he helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl at the end of last season, adding championship pedigree to his resume.
Shaheed has had a down year thus far this season, as he’s recorded 16 receptions for 163 yards through seven games played. He has yet to record a receiving touchdown this year. He has also contributed four rushing attempts for 39 yards and a touchdown. His slow start has dampened the potency of the move that Seattle decided to make for him.
However, his value extends beyond receiving. Shaheed recorded 447 kick-return yards and a kick-return touchdown, as well as 339 punt-return yards and a punt-return touchdown in 2025. In 2026, he has added 436 kick-return yards and 150 punt-return yards, continuing to provide Seattle with an important special-teams weapon and a player who has brought value to the team post-trade.
