Barrow AFC boss plays down talk of 20 game unbeaten run

The Bluebirds extended their run of games without losing to seven after beating Gloucester City 2-0 in the FA Cup on Tuesday.

The National League side have been on impressive form in the league recently, winning all of their last five games, with left-back Thierry Latty-Fairweather recently saying the team wanted to extend their unbeaten record to 15 or even 20 games.

Murray was slightly more reserved in his aspirations and said he was just focused on making it eight with Saturday's match against Forest Green.

The boss said: “Obviously it's tough. The longer you go on in a run, it becomes tougher.

“It'd be great to get to 20 games unbeaten, but I'll just focus on the next one and try and get to eight. That'd be good at the minute.

“Like I've said to you for a long time, we are focused in every game. Every game is important because we're not getting carried away with anything.

“There's a long way to go. We've got a lot to do to keep grinding out wins and we need to keep pushing standards if we're going to keep winning every week.

“We'll try and keep the performance levels going and the standards going, but it's not that easy. We understand there's going to be a lot of challenges.”

Murray said it was important to adapt to coming up against different styles to continue their run, as they did in Tuesday's win at Gloucester.

Murray added: “We found a way to win against them, that was the most important thing. Credit goes to the players.

“We used a number of different tactics in both games to get the victory. Overall, I think there's a lot we can learn from it, there's a lot we can improve on.

“I wasn't really pleased with it in both ties, but they were two totally different games to what we've faced all season.

“It was a big learning curve for us. Tactically, it asked us questions, which was good for the players and for the staff.

“Mentality-wise, it was good for me to see certain people and how they responded to a game that realistically they're expected to win, even though it's not that easy. We really had to push.

“It was a real tough challenge. I think we've come out of it as a stronger group.”
