This Friday, October 23, Lionel Messi received the 2026 Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, an honor that will be remembered for generations to come. However, it was not the only special moment the Argentine superstar experienced during his visit to Oviedo, Spain. One day earlier, the soccer star made one fan’s dream come true in a way that would last a lifetime.
Messi stopped to greet fans in Oviedo
On Thursday, October 22, several fans gathered outside the Hotel de La Reconquista, hoping for a chance to see the World Cup champion up close. Among them was Dani Parrondo, an Asturian comedian and content creator who had been sharing a very specific goal on social media for days: getting Messi to sign his arm so he could turn the autograph into a tattoo.
When the Argentine star approached the fans to greet them, Parrondo finally got the opportunity he had been waiting for. Using a black marker, the Argentina national team captain signed his left forearm, giving him a keepsake that went far beyond a photograph or a simple autograph.
Parrondo did not want to waste any time. After getting the autograph, he contacted a friend who is a tattoo artist to have it permanently inked onto his skin that same night at a studio in Oviedo.
The process was streamed live on his social media accounts, including TikTok and Instagram, allowing his followers to join him as he fulfilled the dream he had shared days earlier. Just like that, the signature Messi had given him outside the hotel went from a temporary keepsake to a permanent tattoo.
