Jaren Jackson Jr. suffered a torn MCL in his right knee during Monday’s home loss by the Utah Jazz to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Jazz said Tuesday he will be re-evaluated in six weeks.
Sources told ESPN that Jackson faces a recovery window of six to eight weeks.
The injury occurred when Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome fell into Jackson, which caused his knee to buckle.
Utah acquired the two-time All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year from Memphis before last season’s trade deadline. The Jazz surrendered three first-round picks.
Jackson appeared in only three games for Utah after the trade and then underwent surgery to remove a noncancerous growth in his left knee.
Lauri Markkanen left the same game with a sprained right wrist and is listed as day to day.
Starting center Jusuf Nurkic has not played this season because of a partial plantar plate tear of the second toe on his right foot. He is scheduled to be re-evaluated in early November.
