Strahinja Pavlovic spoke to the media after AC Milan’s heavy defeat against Bournemouth, admitting that he made a mistake on the third goal.
Pavlovic started in defence alongside Fikayo Tomori, Koni De Winter and Pervis Estupinan. However, instead of showing that Milan can rely on a deputy-esque lineup at the back, the quartet conceded three goals.
Of course, they were not helped by Mike Maignan and his red card, but De Winter made the mistake on the first goal and Pavlovic made the mistake on the third. In case you didn’t see, he jumped away from the wall on the free-kick, as we highlighted in our player ratings.
A few minutes ago, Pavlovic spoke to Sky Italia (via MilanNews) and admitted that way too many mistakes were made by the Rossoneri. Not just by his teammates, but also himself as the positioning on the third goal was far from great.
What are your thoughts on the game?
“I think the start of the match didn’t go well. We made too many mistakes in the first half and… well, there’s not much to say. Conceding two penalties and finding ourselves with a man down makes everything very difficult. Now we have to forget this match and be ready for the next one.”
What did Maignan tell you?’
“He just told us to stay calm and that’s it. These things can happen, it’s part of the game.”
You opened up too much on the free-kick that made it 3-0…
“Yes, well, there’s not much to say. It’s ugly to see. At the time I thought the shot was a little higher, but looking at it again now, it’s clear that it was a wall positioning error.”
Does this match change your immediate future?
“I have said it before. We will play more than fifty or sixty games this year, and this is just one. Sure, it hurts, but now we have to reset and focus exclusively on the next one, because other key matches await us in the coming days.
“We are on the right track, and yes, we absolutely must forget about tonight.”
