Dalton Smith returns to Sheffield this weekend to defend his world title in front of a home crowd. The Steel City fighter will face Dominican Alberto Puello at the Utilita Arena as the headline of Matchroom Boxing's event, with the entire fight card available to watch here.
This will mark Smith's first defence of his WBC super lightweight title and his first bout in his hometown since being crowned world champion earlier this year. He claimed his crown in January by stopping Subriel Matias with a fifth-round knockout in Brooklyn, New York.
Smith boasts an impressive unbeaten record of 19-0 (14 KOs) but faces a tough challenge in Puello (25-1, 11 KOs), who previously held the belt from 2024 to 2025. The pair were scheduled to fight in May but Smith was forced to postpone following an injury sustained during training, reports the Manchester Evening News.
They will now clash at Sheffield's 12,500-capacity Utilita Arena. In the build-up to the fight, Matchroom spoke with Smith regarding his upcoming opponent.
He said: "It's a tough fight, he's a two-time world champion. He has an awkward style, but I do well against southpaws".
Here are all the key details fans need to know about Smith vs Puello, including how to watch the fight live.
Dalton Smith vs Alberto Puello will take place on Saturday, October 24. TV coverage of the main card is due to start at 7pm, with the Smith and Puello ringwalks expected to begin at 10.15pm.
