Colorado quarterback Isaac Wilson returns to Stillwater hoping to lead the Buffaloes to a win over Oklahoma State and help them earn their first conference win of 2026. Wilson beat the No. 14-ranked Cowboys in Stillwater two years ago while at Utah.
Wilson helped Utah defeat the then-No. 14 Cowboys 22-19 in 2024. This time, he arrives with Colorado after throwing for 256 yards in a 27-24 loss to Utah
Here are the three ways Isaac Wilson can succeed against Oklahoma State.
Colorado’s two turnovers against Utah gave the Utes 10 points in a 27-24 loss. The Buffaloes have committed at least one turnover in every game since their season-opening win over Georgia Tech.
Wilson can help Colorado by making quicker decisions when a passing window closes and accepting a throwaway if protection breaks down. Avoiding another short-field scoring opportunity would give the Buffaloes a better chance to finish a competitive road game.
Williams caught five passes for 54 yards against Utah, giving Wilson a productive target to build around Saturday. Designing early opportunities for Williams could help Colorado move the chains and keep Wilson from repeatedly facing difficult third-down situations.
The goal should be consistent completions that let receivers gain yardage and help the offense sustain drives.
Wilson is 2-of-16 on passes traveling at least 20 yards this season, with no touchdowns and three interceptions. Those results make accuracy and target selection central to Colorado’s passing game.
Wilson needs to recognize busted coverage and deliver catchable passes when Williams and DeAndre Moore Jr. gain separation. Improving those opportunities will give Colorado a better chance to generate explosive plays without adding to their ever-growing turnover problems.
