Promising Chelsea loanee Genesis Antwi has received his first senior international call-up. The Strasbourg right-back learned the news ahead of next week’s November international break.
Antwi has impressed on loan at Chelsea’s sister club so far during the 2026/27 season, alongside fellow Blues players Dario Essugo and Filip Jorgensen. The defender will soon have the opportunity to learn from former Chelsea boss Graham Potter as part of the Swedish national team.

How confident are you that Chelsea can get the better of Sunderland? ⚽
Genesis Antwi joined Chelsea at 11 and progressed through the youth teams at Cobham. He made his first-team debut in the Blues’ Conference League game against Copenhagen in March 2025.
After a strong 2025/26 season with Chelsea’s Under-21s, Antwi earned a loan move to Strasbourg this summer. The defender has since established himself as a key player for the French club, starting eight consecutive Ligue 1 games.
Sweden manager Graham Potter has now taken notice of Antwi’s performances and called him up to the senior squad for the November international break. The Scandinavian nation will face Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland in the Nations League.
Congratulations, Genesis! Genesis Antwi has received his first senior call-up for @svenskfotboll and will join Seb’ Nanasi in their two upcoming matches!

Antwi’s decision to represent Sweden comes as no surprise, having previously played for the country at under-17, under-19 and under-21 level. If he makes his senior debut, he will no longer be eligible to represent England, whom he played for at under-16 level, or Ghana, the country of birth of both his parents.
Antwi will become only the second Chelsea player to represent Sweden. Retired goalkeeper Magnus Hedman, who signed a one-year deal with the Blues in 2006 but never made an appearance, earned 58 caps for his country.
