The Detroit Lions (4-2) released their initial injury report ahead of their key Sunday date against the NFL's last remaining unbeaten and against NFC North-leading Minnesota (6-0).
Though safety Kerby Joseph made his long-awaited practice return on Wednesday, a number of other Lions stars didn't practice for a variety of reasons.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell had said earlier in the day that Detroit was planning to hold some players out.
"St.'s doing good, Ennis (Rakestraw Jr.) is doing good. Going to hold them out of practice. We're going to do a walkthrough, and then roll right into practice for a little bit here. So, just kinda, it goes all-in-one. I think those guys will be at walkthrough, but I don't see them out there during the practice portion. I'm going to hold a couple of other guys back just to get them off their feet, but they'll be at walkthrough," Campbell said.
As Campbell suggested, Aidan Hutchinson, DJ Wonnum, Alim McNeill, and Penei Sewell didn't practice as a scheduled rest day.
But, star running back Jahmyr Gibbs also didn't practice and was listed with a shoulder injury. Fellow running back Jacob Saylors (neck) was a limited participant.
Like Campbell said, Amon-Ra St. Brown sat out with his ankle injury, and Rakestraw was a limited participant. Starting defensive lineman Tyleik Williams also didn't practice due to illness.
Two Vikings didn't practice on Wednesday with knee injuries: offensive lineman Joe Huber and running back Aaron Jones Sr. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Jones is day-to-day after leaving Minnesota's Week 7 game against Indianapolis following a 17-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Huber has started each of the past two games at left guard for the Vikings in place of Donovan Jackson, who left Minnesota's Week 4 contest and required surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
Starting right tackle Brian O'Neill was a limited participant with a knee injury.
