The Rainbows began the game on the back foot, succumbing to an early 1-0 deficit.
Having been allowed back into the game, they saw themselves level up through a Josh Baker finish, and soon found themselves in front from a fantastically taken volley from Ollie Wetherall, who met a wonderfully floated Fin Dolan cross.
Aidan Troican's side were now on top, and saw themselves into the break with a seemingly comfortable 1-3 lead after Baker got on the end of a brilliant Dan Baggs back-heeled assist and finished with aplomb.
Despite appearing in control, the away side entered the second 45 a man down, losing Ryan Sweetman to the sin bin.
The home side naturally saw this as an opportunity to pounce, and that they did as they clawed one back early in the second half.
What followed was a Broadstone onslaught, which the Rainbows tried their best to hold at bay.
Despite their efforts they shipped another cheap goal, leaving the scores level with everything to play for after an equaliser from six yards.
A Broadstone winner was found in the dying embers of the game, with a thirty yard toe-punted effort flying into the bracket.
