The Colorado Buffaloes are struggling right now, and there are now calls for the school to fire head coach Deion Sanders. However, he may be a good fit for another college football team, the Florida State Seminoles, which fired Mike Norvell last Sunday and is now looking for a new head coach.
During 247Sports’ Back in Black podcast, Colorado insider Matt McChesney explained that during his time at Boulder, Deion Sanders may have learned a few things, and this could help him should Florida State come calling.
“I think that he would be really successful at Florida State,” he said. “Because I think Coach Prime has learned the importance of who’s around him, and I think if he were to go to Florida State, or if he stays at CU moving forward… I think he’s learned the importance of scheme, hopefully the recruiting thing if it were to go the way we want it to go.”
“If he were to go to Florida State, with that support down there and they want to win, has he learned enough at Colorado to bring in a lot of people? and surround him with a lot of people who will listen to him, and they will collaborate together to win football games,” he added.
As to why Deion Sanders is getting tagged for that Florida State coaching job, he is actually a product of the Seminoles football program. He played for and studied at Florida State University from 1985 to 1988, with the school officially retiring his No. 2 jersey in 1995.
Last Saturday, the Colorado Buffaloes finally snapped their five-game losing streak against the Kansas State Wildcats in an overtime battle, 27-24. Colorado led throughout most of the game, but Kansas State managed to fight back and force overtime. After the win, Deion Sanders praised his players for a gutsy performance.
This was also Colorado’s first Big 12 win for the season, as the Buffs were 0-4 prior to the Kansas State game.
