DRAW PDC Players Championship 34: Luke Humphries meets Mike De Decker as Peter Wright and Josh Rock need miracle to avoid Minehead heartbreak

Luke Humphries begins his bid for back-to-back titles against Mike De Decker at Players Championship 34 in Leicester on Thursday afternoon, with the final ProTour tournament of 2026 set to decide the remaining qualification places for the Players Championship Finals in Minehead. Peter Wright, Josh Rock and Raymond van Barneveld are among the biggest names at risk of missing out, while Gary Anderson has climbed back into the provisional qualifying places following Wednesday's action.

The 34th and final Players Championship event of the season takes place at the Mattioli Arena, with play beginning at 13:00 GMT. A field of 128 players will compete for the £15,000 top prize before the 64-player field for Minehead is confirmed.

Humphries arrives after claiming his fourth Players Championship title of 2026 on Wednesday, defeating Niels Zonneveld 8-4 in the PC33 final. The former world champion also overcame Gerwyn Price and Anderson on his way to victory, averaging 103.77 in the final. He has now won three of his four Players Championship appearances in Leicester this season.

His opening opponent De Decker sits 63rd on the Players Championship Order of Merit with £33,250, level with Henry Coates in the final provisional qualifying position and just £250 ahead of Wesley Plaisier. The former World Grand Prix champion risks losing his Minehead place if he cannot add to his total on Thursday.

Plaisier faces Cameron Menzies in his opening match, Coates meets Jeffrey de Zwaan, while David Sharp, currently 66th and just £750 short of the qualifying places, has been drawn against James Wade. Bradley Brooks, who sits 61st with £34,500, also has little room for error and begins against Rhys Griffin.

Peter Wright needs a miracle to avoid missing the Players Championship Finals

Wright and Rock running out of chances in final Minehead qualification battle

Wright faces Carl Sneyd in his final opportunity to salvage a place at the Players Championship Finals. The two-time world champion is down in 88th position with £23,750, leaving him £9,500 behind the current cut-off. Having lost 6-4 to Beau Greaves in the opening round on Wednesday, Wright needs at least a run to Thursday's final to have any realistic chance of qualifying, with the possibility of the cut-off rising further as the day progresses.

Rock is similarly desperate for a deep run after failing to add to his ranking total at PC33. The Northern Irishman sits 84th with £26,000, £7,250 adrift of the provisional cut-off, and begins against Tyler Thorpe. Even reaching the final would not necessarily guarantee him a place at Minehead, depending on results elsewhere.

Van Barneveld improved his position with a quarter-final appearance on Wednesday, defeating Adam Lipscombe, Ricky Evans, Daryl Gurney and Tyler Thorpe before losing 6-3 to Anderson. The five-time world champion nevertheless remains outside the Minehead places in 69th, £3,500 short of the current qualification mark. His final opportunity begins against Jimmy van Schie, with further ranking money also valuable in his separate bid to secure a World Darts Championship place at Alexandra Palace.

Anderson's prospects look considerably healthier following his semi-final run at PC33. The Scot beat Rob Cross, Wessel Nijman and Van Barneveld before falling 7-4 to Humphries despite averaging 106.75. He climbed from 68th to 57th on the Players Championship Order of Merit, giving himself a £3,000 cushion heading into Thursday's action against Andy Boulton.

Michael van Gerwen averaged 114.15 in a 6-0 quarter-final demolition of Danny Noppert on Wednesday before losing 7-5 to Zonneveld in the semi-finals. The Dutchman begins against Leon Weber, while Zonneveld faces Marvin Kraft after reaching his first Players Championship final of the season.

Players Championship Order of Merit leader Wessel Nijman takes on Adam Paxton, Chris Dobey meets Keane Barry and Michael Smith faces Adam Leek. Madars Razma, currently 67th and £3,000 outside the Minehead places, opens against Oskar Lukasiak, while Mario Vandenbogaerde, one position below him, meets Nathan Potter.

Luke Littler and Nathan Aspinall are absent from the final ProTour tournament, meaning neither of last year's Players Championship Finals finalists will return to Minehead. Littler defeated Aspinall 11-8 to lift the title in 2025, but his limited appearances on the floor circuit this season have left him well outside the qualification places. Aspinall's withdrawal from the Leicester double-header has also ended his hopes of making the 64-player field for the tournament, which takes place from 27 to 29 November.
