The Oklahoma City Thunder has officially announced that the franchise will retire Russell Westbrook‘s No. 0 jersey on February 7. The banner-raising ceremony honors the nine-time NBA All-Star and former league MVP following an 18-season career that originated with the organization in 2008.

Selected in the first round of the 2008 draft prior to the franchise’s move from Seattle, Westbrook spent the first 11 seasons of his career in Oklahoma City. Alongside Kevin Durant, the explosive point guard guided the Thunder into championship contention before carrying the team following Durant’s 2016 departure. The subsequent season, Westbrook became the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double across an entire campaign—registering 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists to capture league MVP honors—before repeating the statistical milestone in his final two years with the team.

“Many players make an impact but only great players leave a legacy. Russell Westbrook’s legacy was built both on the court and in the community,” Thunder executive vice president and general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. “His mindset was relentless, his commitment deep. For all those reasons, Oklahomans consider him one of their own and his number will be raised to the rafters, in Oklahoma City forever.” Westbrook, who retired this past offseason as a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, becomes the second player in Thunder history to receive a jersey retirement, joining Nick Collison’s No. 4.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will officially raise Westbrook’s No. 0 to the rafters during a ceremony on February 7.
