Blackburn Rovers' game plan to upset 'beatable' West Ham

The Hammers are this season's standout fixture, with a sold out Darwen End coming to Ewood Park on Saturday.

But their size hasn't been translated autmatically into results. Scott Parker will be in the dugout after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked this week and oversaw a crazy 3-3 draw at Cardiff City where his team were 3-0 down.

Having reviewed that and the two games prior which West Ham lost, Mowbray insists Rovers will attack the match.

"I feel can we beat them, we always ask 'Can we give them a good game?" Mowbray insisted.

"West Ham with their 7,000 fans or whatever they're bringing; it's a huge football club.

"They've got 60,000 watching their home games down there. They've got players who very recently played for England in Jarrod Bowen.

"It's an ask for us, and yet I'm sitting there watching West Brom beat them 3-1.

"The coach has left and Scotty Parker has been agreed now. It'll be a big occasion.

"They're beatable. They've lost their manager because they've lost too many games this year already and I haven't seen a team that I think, 'wow, they're miles too good for us'.

"Swansea might give that impression, but I think we should be positive, aggressive, play on the front foot and try our hand and see how we get on against West Ham United.

"I'm pretty sure all the TV outlets will be here and the media world will be here.

"For me, we have to try to produce what we can produce and be our best version of ourselves and play the game that we want to play and be fully aware of the individual talent and speed and power in their team at Championship level."

West Brom provided something of a blueprint in Mowbray's eyes, having won 3-1 at the London Stadium less than a week ago.

There will be an element of respect considering the Premier League talent sitll littered in their squad but it is not somehting Rovers will fear.

"I do think athleticism and power is a huge attribute in the Championship - in the Premier League of course it is as well, but everybody's got it," he continued.

"All the biggest, strongest, fastest players are in the Premier League and when a Premier League team gets relegated, as long as they don't sell their whole team, they've got a fantastic chance just by the sheer athleticism and power and speed of their team.

"So it'll be a good challenge for us. Watching West Brom (against them), they had enough of the ball, they aren't sitting back scared, waiting. I think that's what we have to do, go and take the game to them.

"Be very conscious of their talent and individuals who could hurt you at any moment, but make sure we play as we play and get the ball forward, get enough men in the box to cause trouble, and let's have a real go and let's be positive.

"I'm sure our fanbase will come and react to the opposition fanbase, and I'm pretty sure it'll be a good game and hopefully we do ourselves more than good by performing and entertaining the team and the fans."
