Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard says another Premier League side has its own Rio Ngumoha emerging after he made an impressive performance off the bench this weekend

Steven Gerrard has picked out Tottenham talent Luca Williams-Barnett as a player to watch in the next few months, with the 18-year-old Spurs ace being compared to Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha.

Roberto De Zerbi's men moved up to ninth place in the Premier League by beating Crystal Palace last Saturday, with Williams-Barnett coming off the bench late in the second half.

The teenager looked a livewire on the flanks and almost collected an assist after an incredible mazy dribble that saw him beat a couple of players and square the ball across the box, only for Mathys Tel to miss from close range.

"I loved one moment from the game," Gerrard said on The Overlap Daily, sponsored by Sky Bet. "Williams-Barnett, a name I’ve heard mentioned to me through the England ranks a few times.

"But he came on for a little cameo, and if I’m a Tottenham fan, I’m going away buzzing with the result, and Spurs are obviously in this new place, but this young kid is going to be a player.

"I’ve seen enough in the 10-minute cameo. He came on around the 80th minute; he went on this little jinky run down the left and put a ball across like Declan Rice.

"I just thought, ‘They’ve got their own little Rio Ngumoha’. So look out for this boy, I really like him."

De Zerbi described Williams-Barnett as a "very great talent" while Jamie Redknapp labeled him "sensational".

"It’s a dream come true, really," Williams-Barnett said. "As I’ve got on the ball, I wasn’t really scared. I just wanted to get the ball and show what I can do, and really just enjoy it.

"I was on the sideline, and I was thinking, ‘How could I get this crowd going even more?’ I just feel like this is surreal."

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.

Alongside Ngumoha, Liverpool also has another huge talent in Trey Nyoni, who started ahead of Ryan Gravenberch during the weekend's clash with Arsenal.

"Obviously I was excited," Nyoni said. "I just tried to go out there and do what I do, tried to get on the ball as much as possible and bring the team forwards. Obviously I’m happy but we still wanted to win, so there’s also that — which is the most important thing."

England appears to have several major talents coming through. Despite the riches of the Premier League, many are being handed chances to play senior soccer at a young age.
