Conor McGregor has seemingly confirmed that he will fight one final time before retiring from combat sports.

Speculation has been rife that McGregor, now 37, would end his career in the coming months. The Irishman made his return to fighting after five years away, blowing his knee out in a sixty-nine second loss to Max Holloway.

McGregor vowed to return from that ACL injury, and while he acknowledged that he wanted to fulfil the final fight of his contract, he had stopped short of saying that it would be the last fight of his career.

In a social media post, he has stated that his next fight will be 'the final one,' and that he is aiming to break records.

"How many views did the canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate ? Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined.

"I don’t even be trying. I was on the same time as the World Cup semi final and still done all them numbers in that last bullshit that I’ve to sit with for another few months before I return.

"I’m going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records."

It has been 5 years now since McGregor competed more than once in a calendar year, and it has been 11 since he fought three times, so his days of being an active fighter have long since ended.

The Irishman has teased retirement on numerous occasions in the past, however, with the conclusion of his UFC contract imminent, McGregor could well be poised to ride off into the sunset one final time.
