Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has had a change of heart over the direction of his career, which promises to make Premier League sides sit up and take notice.

Since moving to the Bernabeu in a €113 million deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2023, Bellingham has established himself as one of the biggest stars in the world game – a status that he backed up with his stellar performances with England at the 2026 World Cup.

Now he is ready to take a decision that promises to dictate the course of his entire career.

Bellingham sees Premier League move as ‘key’ for his career

Bellingham is in “complete agreement” with Real Madrid over a new contract, according to Marca, which states that the player’s representatives and the club are “moving steadily” towards a new deal that will end any chance of a premature departure.

But while the 23-year-old is ready to commit to Real Madrid until 2031, the indications from Spain are that he will not remain in the capital for the remainder of his career.

Marca states: “While Jude Bellingham's present and medium-term future are inextricably linked to Real Madrid, the British player has one unfinished business in his sporting career… The midfielder is considering trying his luck in the Premier League at a later stage of his professional career. The desire to compete in the top flight of his native country remains a key part of his plans.”

Which Premier League clubs could sign Jude Bellingham?

For clubs in the Premier League, this is an exciting prospect, though of course none can start planning for Bellingham while he remains so firmly tied to Real Madrid for the foreseeable future.

Inevitably, it will be the ‘Big 6’ who set their sights on the England star. These are the clubs with both they money and status to be able to attract such a player, and it would take a seismic short-term shift for another to muscle in on this group – or perhaps Bellingham’s beloved Birmingham City making a return to the Premier League.

More realistically, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool look the likeliest destinations at this early stage of the running. Manchester United and Tottenham will both have to rediscover their former glories to stand a chance of landing such a world star, while the ongoing uncertainty over Manchester City’s future leaves long-term plans up in the air at the Etihad.

In the meantime, Bellingham remains fully focused on Real Madrid and the club’s sporting management are delighted by the “professionalism and daily commitment of a player who has masterfully adapted to the team's tactical demands”.
