At Drummoyne Oval on November 1, Sydney Thunder recorded back-to-back victories in the Women's Big Bash League 2026-27 season, chasing down Brisbane Heat's total of 178 for 5 to win by 10 wickets with 20 balls remaining. The target of 179 was the highest score posted at Drummoyne Oval in WBBL history, yet Thunder reached it at 16.4 overs, with Nadine de Klerk hitting the winning boundary to seal the result.

Heather Knight anchored the chase with an unbeaten 54 off 29 balls, while Laura Harris contributed a brisk 35 off 16 balls. Phoebe Litchfield gave Thunder a flying start with 41 off 19 balls, striking six fours during her 19-ball stay before Orla Prendergast held an excellent catch off the last ball of the Powerplay to dismiss her. Anika Learoyd then added 37 off 28 balls in a 63-run partnership alongside Knight, and once Learoyd departed, Knight combined with Harris for a 59-run stand that effectively settled the contest.

For Brisbane Heat, Georgia Redmayne top-scored with 57 off 44 balls and Grace Harris blazed 58 off 37 balls. The pair put on a 99-run second-wicket partnership that powered Heat to their imposing total. Orla Prendergast chipped in with 28 off 20 balls lower down. Laura Harris took a catch to dismiss her sister Grace Harris during the Brisbane innings, providing one of the match's notable moments. Georgia Voll claimed 2 for 25 for Thunder with the ball, while Lily Bassingthwaighte was the pick of the Heat bowlers with 2 for 31.

How did Brisbane Heat build their record Drummoyne Oval total?

Brisbane Heat's innings was built on the foundation of the Redmayne-Grace Harris partnership. Redmayne made 57 off 44 balls and Grace Harris struck 58 off 37 balls, their 99-run second-wicket stand lifting Heat to 178 for 5, the highest WBBL score recorded at the venue. Prendergast's cameo of 28 off 20 balls added further impetus in the closing overs.

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia also featured in the Heat innings. Georgia Voll's 2 for 25 was the standout bowling effort for Thunder in restricting Heat after that dominant partnership.
