Rugby League World Cup semi-final squad news as Kayln Ponga decision made

The squads for the semi-finals of the men’s Rugby League World Cup have been confirmed ahead of this weekend’s matches.

New Zealand will face off against Tonga on Saturday before Australia face Samoa on the Sunday, as each team bids for a place in the Rugby League World Cup Final.

Some significant decisions have had to be made this week in terms of squad selection with Kevin Walters making a call on his spine, whilst New Zealand have had to decide how they replace the banned Ronaldo Mulitalo and if Kalyn Ponga is fit enough to play.

Ponga, who fractured his arm in the first game of the tournament just over two weeks ago, has been named in the New Zealand reserves but as seen this tournament, those players can often find themselves in the matchday squad.

The Kiwis have brought in Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to replace the banned Ronaldo Mulitalo, whilst opponents Tonga have made no changes, meaning Super League half Tui Lolohea remains in the starting line-up.
