Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with strikers ahead of the winter transfer window, and it is easy to see why. The Lilywhites may have turned a corner with three Premier League wins on the spin, but they continue to struggle for goals from their forwards.
Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush have scored just one goal apiece in the Premier League, with both royally struggling to impact games. And with Richarlison exiled from the squad and likely to be offloaded in the winter transfer window, Roberto De Zerbi must push the board to invest in a No.9 to boost the club’s hopes of qualifying for Europe.
Reports from October suggested that the North Londoners are keeping close tabs on Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey. The Netherlands international scored a hat-trick, albeit in Sunderland’s 5-3 defeat to Manchester City before the September international break, catching the attention of several clubs across the Premier League and Europe.
Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury while playing for the Netherlands in a UEFA Nations League match against Germany. He has returned to full team training and is finishing his recovery after being held out of recent matches as a precaution to avoid a setback.
If the striker’s imminent return from injury is good news for Sunderland fans, they have now received an even better update on his future. According to Sky Sports News on X, Brian Brobbey has committed his future at the Stadium of Light by penning a new four-and-a-half-year contract.

Sunderland were excellent upon their promotion to the top flight last term. They finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League. However, the Black Cats have struggled to juggle the demands of Premier League football and European adventure, with Regis Le Bris’ side currently at rock bottom in the league. Yet, the club has managed to convince Brobbey to sign a new deal.
This is one of the best bits of business Sunderland have done during the season. Brobbey committing his future is a big boost for the club and shows his faith in the project under Le Bris. However, securing the centre-forward’s signature has become significantly more complex for Tottenham following developments in Wearside.
Despite strong mounting interest from European suitors including Tottenham, the Black Cats have successfully protected their prized asset’s long-term valuation. This development emphasises how highly they rate the Dutchman, ensuring that any future negotiations or permanent moves will command a historic fee.
