‘He Is the Most Overrated Quarterback in NFL History’ — 3-Time Pro Bowler Sounds Off on Dak Prescott Despite 3-TD Performance in MNF Win

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys picked up a 38-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, snapping a two-game losing streak and handing their rivals a fifth straight defeat. But even a three-touchdown night hasn’t kept Prescott out of the firing line.

Three-time Pro Bowler Le’Veon Bell had some harsh words for the Cowboys quarterback after watching the game, arguing that Prescott doesn’t belong among the league’s top signal-callers.

Le’Veon Bell Leaves Dak Prescott off His Top-10 QB List

Prescott completed 15 of 27 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns against Philadelphia. He added eight rushing yards on two carries and threw at least three touchdown passes against the Eagles for the sixth time in his career.

Dallas’ offensive line gave Prescott time to work from the pocket, and he connected with CeeDee Lamb for two touchdowns and George Pickens for another. Despite the productive night, Bell wasn’t impressed enough to consider Prescott a top-10 quarterback.

“I realized something about Prescott. I gotta say it; it needs to be said,” Bell said in a video posted on his X account. “Dak Prescott is the most overrated quarterback in NFL history… I’ll prove it. I’ll start with the no-brainers.”

Bell began making his case by naming quarterbacks he believes rank ahead of Prescott. He pointed to Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow as established options in the AFC, while naming Matthew Stafford as an obvious choice in the NFC.

He also brought several other quarterbacks into the conversation, including Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Aaron Rodgers, and Justin Herbert.

With so many quarterbacks who have already proven they can lead a franchise, Bell argued that Prescott has no business being ranked among the league’s top passers.

One of Bell’s more interesting comparisons of Prescott involved Stroud.

“I think C. J. Stroud and Dak Prescott [are] literally the same quarterback,” Bell said.

Bell also said he included Herbert despite the Chargers’ 0-6 start, arguing that the quarterback’s track record before this season still put him ahead of Prescott.

“Before this season, people were talking about Herbert being the best quarterback ever. We can still argue Justin Herbert [is better than] Dak Prescott,” he said.

Bell then expanded the discussion to the NFC, mentioning Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts and Sam Darnold as other quarterbacks worth considering.

In the end, Bell was careful to clarify that he wasn’t calling Prescott “a bad quarterback.” His issue was with how highly the Cowboys veteran is regarded.

“I am not saying that Prescott is a bad quarterback,” Bell added. “That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying he’s the most overrated quarterback in NFL history.”

Prescott currently ranks No. 10 in the league with a PFN QB Impact Score of 80.2.

The Cowboys host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, which will give Prescott a chance to build on his performance against Philadelphia and keep Dallas moving toward a playoff run. A strong finish to the season would also give him a chance to silence critics like Bell.
