Liam Rosenior has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Paris FC, with his side sixth in Ligue 1 after collecting 14 points from their opening eight matches. The former Chelsea manager has already secured notable victories over Marseille and Strasbourg.
Rosenior joined Paris FC in July, just three months after Chelsea dismissed him in April, ending his six-and-a-half-year contract. Although he made a promising start at Stamford Bridge, results quickly deteriorated, with the Blues losing five consecutive Premier League games without scoring.
Many questioned whether Rosenior was ready for such a demanding job, but the problems at Chelsea extended beyond the manager. The club’s exceptionally young squad lacked experience, something Rosenior’s latest comments about Paris FC have brought back into focus.
Liam Rosenior has made no secret of his appreciation for the balance within his Paris FC squad, particularly the influence of the senior players. Paris FC have one of the oldest teams in Ligue 1, with an average age of 28, and Rosenior believes their experience has helped him settle into the role.
“I love the makeup of this group,” he told talkSPORT. “I think we’re one of the oldest in the league. I think our average age is 28. The senior players are fantastic pros. They’re great role models for the young players. They make my job a little bit easier.”

Those comments contrast sharply with Rosenior’s time at Chelsea, whose squad had an average age of just 23.4 last season. According to GiveMeSport, they were 1.4 years younger than second-placed Tottenham, underlining just how heavily the Blues relied on youth.
While signing young players with high potential has been central to Chelsea’s recruitment strategy, the lack of experienced figures put greater responsibility on the manager. Rosenior was unfairly expected to develop that group while also delivering immediate results in one of English football’s most demanding jobs.
Rosenior’s comments also echo Gary Neville’s criticism after Chelsea sacked him. The former Manchester United defender questioned whether appointing a young manager to lead an inexperienced squad was the right approach.
“One thing I said at the time: if young players don’t need young players alongside them – they need experienced players – then young players definitely don’t need a young manager,” Neville said.

Liam Rosenior’s ambitions at Paris FC extend well beyond their current league position. He wants to build a club capable of challenging France’s established powers, including Paris Saint-Germain, before eventually becoming a major force in European football.
“The long-term target is to be one of the biggest clubs in this country,” he added. “[We want to] develop the academy and have a really strong women’s team. They had an amazing attendance a few days ago against Arsenal.
“We want to be a major player in this league and in Europe. But we also understand that you can’t throw money at it. You have to build something over time. You can see the development of the training centre.
“You need to develop an idea, a philosophy, a way of working. But we want to be one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I know that’s the aim of the ownership, but we also know there has to be a reality in terms of the time that it takes.”
