Four-time Pro Bowler Josh Allen has led the Buffalo Bills to an impressive 5-1 start to the season and the top of the AFC East Division. Alongside the San Francisco 49ers, the Bills are one of the favorites to reach Super Bowl 61, but Caleb Williams’ Chicago Bears have become dark horses after acquiring First-team All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans this week.

After the announcement of Simmons’ trade to the Bears, analyst Max Kellerman urged the Bills to make a blockbuster trade to help Allen and the team win immediately.

Analyst Urges Bills To Aid Josh Allen Before Trade Deadline

During the Oct. 31 episode of the “Game Over” podcast, Kellerman begged the Bills to take advantage of Allen’s stunning form by making trades to make the Bills a surefire contender this season.

“What they just did for Caleb Williams, if the Bills don’t do this for Josh Allen, they have failed Josh Allen,” Kellerman said. “People a lot of times mistake in Julius Caesar, that line in Shakespeare, ‘Because in fact, he tried to take it at the flood and it backfired.’ But my point is, that at a certain point you got to take the shot. Josh Allen is in his prime. Given his style of play, who knows how long that prime lasts. But he’s at the peak of his powers now.”

He added, “He’s as dynamic and all-round player as the football world has ever seen. And every single year they have a pretty good team where he’s expected to do a lot. Caleb Williams’ team in his sophomore season just went out and got a difference maker on defense to help him out. What will the Bills do at the trade deadline? Everyone’s doing it for their guy, go ahead and do it for Josh Allen Buffalo Bills.”

The Bears acquired Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick in exchange for 2027 and 2028 first-round picks and a 2027 fourth-round pick. The defensive tackle signed a lucrative three-year, $105.8 million contract extension with the Titans in June.

Since being selected No. 7 overall by the Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft, Allen has an 8-7 playoff record. Last season, he led the Bills to their first road playoff win since Jan. 17, 1993, when they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card Round.

Allen had a mixed performance in the Bills’ 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round, accounting for three touchdowns and four turnovers.

Allen participated in the Bills’ head coach search and provided input before Joe Brady was hired following Sean McDermott’s firing. Brady, who was the Bills’ offensive coordinator last year, has rejuvenated the unit, which has earned the league’s best PFN’s NFL Offense Impact grade of 88.2 this season.

Under Brady, Allen has thrived, amassing 1,504 passing yards on 66.7% completion, 9 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, adding 240 rushing yards and 8 scores for the Bills this season, earning a PFN’s NFL QB Impact grade of 83.8 (No. 7 in the NFL).

Any path to a potential Super Bowl for the Bills this season lies through Allen’s dual-threat ability.
