The NFL trade deadline is less than two weeks away, and all eyes are on the Chicago Bears and whether they're buyers and/or sellers ahead of the Nov. 10 cutoff.
With the Bears sitting at 5-2 with the trade deadline on deck, the indication among NFL insiders is that Chicago will be buyers. There are definitely needs along the defensive line -- be it tackle or edge rusher -- as the defensive trenches lack a dominant presence. Then there's cornerback, where Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson have struggled and rookie Malik Muhammad, who's been their best cornerback, is banged up.
Below, we’ll track the latest news and rumors around the Bears at the trade deadline:
The Bears were one of two teams that reportedly showed interest in former Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, but it was the 49ers who were able to get the deal done and welcome back their former player for a 2027 fourth-round pick.
On Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks acquired eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts for a third-round pick in 2027 and fifth-round pick in 2028. But according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Bears were among several other teams that showed "varying levels of interest" in trading for Nelson. The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles also showed interest.
The Bears have been linked to Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack for a while now, and that interest is only heating up ahead of the trade deadline. While Los Angeles has insisted that they're sitting pat, despite being 0-6, the chatter from a number of NFL insiders linking Mack and the Bears has been notable.
