Stats round from the England - Sri Lanka high scoring encounter from Rawalpindi.

430 - The target of 430 chased down by Sri Lanka is the second highest successful chase in any List A game, only behind South Africa’s 435 against Australia in Johannesburg in 2006. Overall, it is only the third successful 400+ chase in ODIs after the above two games and India’s chase of 406 against West Indies in Guwahati last month.

Target Team Opposition Ground Season
435 South Africa Australia Johannesburg 2005/06
430 Sri Lanka England Rawalpindi 2026/27
406 India West Indies Guwahati 2026
375 Netherlands West Indies Harare 2023
372 South Africa Australia Durban 2016/17
370 Netherlands Scotland Dundee 2025
361 England West Indies Bridgetown 2018/19
360 India Australia Jaipur 2013/14

859 - The aggregate of 859 runs in the match is the second highest in an ODI behind 872 runs in the ODI between Australia (434/4) and South Africa (438/9) in Johannesburg in 2006. It is now also the highest match aggregate in a List A game in Asia surpassing 825 runs in the game between Jharkhand and Karnataka in Ahmedabad last year.

170 - The target of 170 chased by Sri Lanka in the last 15 overs (36-50) is the highest achieved in an ODI, where ball by ball details are available. The previous highest was 146 by West Indies, also against England, in North Sound in 2023 when they chased 326.

430/8 by Sri Lanka is their second highest total in all ODIs, only behind the 443/9 against Netherlands in Amstelveen in 2006. They also became the first team to score 400+ in a run chase in all List A cricket twice, following 411/8 against India in Rajkot in 2009.

93 fours hit in the ODI happens to be most in a single match eclipsing 87 between Australia (434/4) and South Africa (438/9) in Johannesburg in 2006. England hit 48 fours, the joint second most by a team in an ODI, while Sri Lanka responded with 45.

Harry Brook etches his name in history

2 - Brook became the second batter in the history of International cricket to achieve the triple of 300 in Tests, 200 in ODIs, and 100 in T20Is, after Chris Gayle. He scored 317 in a Test against Pakistan in Multan in 2024, 202 today, and has two T20I hundreds in 2026 – 100 against Pakistan in Pallekele and 114* against Sri Lanka in Southampton.

114 balls taken by Brook makes it the fastest double century in ODIs bettering Shubman Gill’s 117-ball effort against West Indies in Guwahati this September. It is the joint second fastest double hundred in List A cricket, after Chad Bowes’ 103-ball effort for Canterbury against Otago in 2024 while Travis Head also made 200 off 114 balls for South Australia against Queensland in 2021.

202 by Brook makes him the first England batter to score a double hundred in ODIs, bettering the previous highest of 182 by Ben Stokes against New Zealand at the Oval in 2023.

It is now the highest individual score in a losing cause in an ODI going past Charles Coventry’s unbeaten 194 against Bangladesh in Bulawayo in 2009. Overall, it is only the third instance of a List A double hundred ending in a defeat.

202 is also the highest individual score and second double century by a non-opener after Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan at the Wankhede in ODI World Cup 2023.

It is also the highest individual score in ODIs in Pakistan surpassing Gary Kirsten’ unbeaten 188 against UAE at the same venue in World Cup 1996.

174 of Brook’s 202 runs came against pacers – the most ever in an ODI innings, where ball by ball details available. The previous highest was Viv Richards’ who hit 170 out of 189 against England seamers in Manchester in 1984.

103 - Sam Curran ended up conceding 103 runs from his nine overs – the highest conceded by an England bowler in an ODI.

Curran also became the first England bowler to concede 100 or more in an ODI innings, eclipsing his own 98 in 9.5 overs against West Indies in North Sound in 2023.
